Join the Domestic Violence Survivors Justice Act (DVSJA) Campaign and be part of a movement for justice and dignity for survivors of violence in the criminal justice system.
90% of women in prison are survivors of abuse. The DVSJA campaign is part of the Coalition for Women Prisoners’ advocacy campaign to change the way the criminal justice system responds to survivors of abuse who are convicted of crimes directly related to the abuse they suffered. The Coalition’s Violence Against Women Committee carries out this campaign and works to raise public awareness about the devastating connection between abuse and women’s pathways to prison.
In this short video, members of the Coalition’s Violence Against Women Committee describe the Coalition’s work and why the DVSJA is long overdue. For more information and to join the Coalition, contact the Correctional Association’s Women in Prison Project at 212-254-5700.
